Description
There are certain questions from users about features that do not work as expected , or as according to the documentation. This article does not refer to these cases individually (such as misconfiguration, misunderstanding, or bugs).
This article explains what the user can do if a certain feature is not present at all, or does not appear to be configurable in FortiOS, or if it appears to have missing elements (for example, when compared to another competitor's product).
Scope
FortiOS, but the whole Fortinet range of products follow the same principle.
Solution
Fortinet does not document features that are not currently supported.
If there is a clearly documented feature or mention of it in documentation, command line guide, or release notes, this means the feature is supported.
However, if there is a feature that is not mentioned anywhere, or is not configurable, or is even impossible to implement in the current range of products, then it will not be listed even partially in documentation, nor will there be an explanation of why it is unsupported.
This evaluation is usually performed in the pre-sale communication, where the client may ask if a certain product fits their needs (in terms of features).
Post-sale, the client is more than welcome and encouraged to submit New Feature Requests through their local Fortinet sales representatives, or through dedicated communication channels. TAC support service or Customer Service departments do not directly handle New Feature Requests.
In certain cases, these features may already be under active development and will be implemented in a future release.
These features are not visible internally until they are publicly released, so no information is available prior to the release (neither an expected timeline for support, confirmation of any plans to support the feature, nor reasons for a feature not being supported can be given).
