Description

This article describes the causes of the Error: 'disk_monitor_daemon: Warning: DB disk is slow to respond'.

DB_Disk_Is_Slow.png

Scope FortiAuthenticator-VM.
Solution

The 'slow to respond' messages are emitted when the daemon's 'current disk speed' state changes from fast to slow, based on its experimental reads and writes. Changing from slow to fast is silent by default.

  • The threshold to be 'slow' is a response time worse than 1000ms (ie, one second).
  • The threshold to be 'fast' is a response time faster than 10ms.

These log messages are accurately reporting when the disk access has slowed down dramatically from what is normally seen, for whatever environmental reason has triggered this (momentary network issue, heavy disk I/O from another VM, etc).

In these cases, it is not a problem with the FortiAuthenticator and it is necessary to check the Hypervisor.
