Description This article describes how to eliminate the status: 'ErrorDevice Already In Inventory' when any FortiAP was adopted by FortiLAN Cloud with one specific account, and when it is necessary to move the FortiAP to a different account.
Scope FortiLAN Cloud and FortiAP management.
Solution

If deploying FortiAPs to a new account without deleting them from the previous account, this message will appear in the new one:

Sometimes, when a FortiAP has been implemented with any model to the FortiLAN Cloud portal, this account that is managing the FotrtiAPs is no longer required for administration. In these specific cases,  remove the FortiAP following this guide on that specific account:

As a summary, remove the FortiAP from the inventory under the account no longer needed. Log in to the new account add the FotrtiAP with or without a key and finally deploy the FortiAP :

This is a straightforward procedure, but sometimes the above procedure described does not work. In such specific cases, delete the FortiAP from each Cloud Zone.

  1. Log into the FortiLAN account. On the right-hand side, a little gear icon will appear. Select it and hit the option Change FortiLAN account.

  1. Log in to the new account and deploy the problematic FortiAP again. The error should not be there anymore under the inventory. Make sure the network has internet access where the FortiAP is connected. If there is no internet access, the FortiAP will be offline:
