Use non-fortinet AP with Fortigate 60E

Hi

I need some clarification and insight on two potential scenario's here.

1) Can I use a D-LINK Access point as an AP for a Fortigate 60E and if yes, how?

2) Is there Wi-Fi capabilities (without the need for an AP) built into the Fortigate 60E?

Any information on this would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Dan.

Hi Dan,

Find below my comments.

You can us a D Link AP as if you were connecting any other network device to your network (e.g. a switch), but you definitely can not manage (configure) a D Link AP with the FGT 60E.

2) Is there Wi-Fi capabilities (without the need for an AP) built into the Fortigate 60E?
The built-in wifi capabilities of any FortiGate are related to WiFi controller features, in which the FortiGate becomes a wireless controller for Fortinet APs (not 3rd party APs).
There are special models of FortiGate with a built-in AP, but these are the FortiWiFi appliances.
