Description This article explains how to download and join the GoToMeeting remote session using the GoToMeeting opener
Scope Support Portal.
Solution

The TAC Support Engineer will send the meeting link for the remote session. Open the respective meeting link and it will redirect the client to the meeting portal and there will be a pop-out window asking to run the GoToOpener.exe.

 

For example:

After selecting the option 'Open GoToOpener' the client will be prompted to run the GoTo application to join the meeting. 

 

Sometimes, the TAC Support Engineer may host an older version of the GoToMeeting room instead of the new 'GoTo' meeting. 

The organizer will see the client using the 'GoTo' opener as  <Username> (Web)

 

Example of the web mode participant in the meeting:

If there is (Web) beside the name, this means the Organizer of the meeting will not be able to remote control unless both participants are using the correct application (GoToMeeting or the new "GoTo" room). In this case, the Organizer can switch to the GoTo Application to be able to request remote control. 

 

Another alternative solution will be having client to download the GoToMeeting opener via this link:

https://www.goto.com/download

 

Once on the download page, look for the GoTo Meeting app download section:

It will redirect to this page and select 'Download the app':

Then the client will see the download prompt in the browser and the downloaded file name should be 'GoToMeeting Opener.exe'

Once joined using the correct opener application the organizer will see the client name no longer contains (web) :

Then the TAC engineer can now request remote control to assist further.
