You could check the mail setting -> Default domain for authentication,
if this is configured, you can use only username to authenticate instead
of full email address.
Sometimes emails cannot be delivered to destination is due to the
connectivity issue. Please check if the destination has such issues or
not? Also you should be able to find useful log info on FortiMail.
