Technical Tip: How to differentiate SIP phones from general stations in FortiWLC

Description	This article describes how to distinguish SIP phones from general stations in FortiWLC
Scope	FortiWLC, Wireless Controller, Phones, SIP
Solution	Typically, all station information can be found in FortiWLC under Monitor -> Devices -> All Stations. If it is necessary to distinguish between regular stations and SIP phones, adjust the QoS rules by navigating to Configuration -> Policies -> QoS -> QoS and Firewall Rules, selecting SIP, and then editing the action to 'CAPTURE.' Phone counts are now visible in two locations within the GUI: At the bottom of the dashboard, where the 'Phone' icon is seen - the phone count updates as SIP phones connect to the wireless network. Monitor -> Devices -> Phones.  Phone information can also be seen in the CLI of FortiWLC by using the command 'show phones'. Note: If trouble is still encountered differentiating phones from other clients, submit a ticket to Fortinet TAC and include the latest diagnostics from the controller.
