Description | This article describes how to define the FortiProxy firmware upgrade path. |
Scope | FortiProxy. |
Solution |
For some devices, the supported upgrade path can be found in the 'Upgrade Path Tool'. See the article at the bottom of this one for further information. FortiProxy is not included in this tool, so it is necessary to manually check the supported upgrade path in the FortiProxy release notes for the destination version.
Before upgrading a FortiProxy to a target release, verify whether intermediate upgrades are required. Refer to the FortiProxy Release Notes for the target and interim versions.
Example 1: From the v7.6.3 release notes:
FortiProxy 7.6.3 supports upgrade from 7.4.x or 7.6.x only.
This means an upgrade to v7.6.3 is supported from any 7.4.x or 7.6.3 versions. If the device is still on FortiProxy v7.2. It is first required to upgrade to a 7.4.x version before being able to further upgrade to the destination release of v7.6.3.
Example 2: The direct upgrade from the FortiProxy firmware release v7.2.3 GA to the firmware release v7.4.4 GA is not supported, as indicated on the target release notes, in the Introduction paragraph:
See the FortiProxy v7.4.4 Release Notes. The oldest v7.2 release supported for direct upgrade is the v7.2.5 GA. For this reason, it is necessary to do an intermediate upgrade to the release v7.2.5 GA, without additional intermediate upgrades, because in the v7.2.5 GA release notes, there are no restrictions on the upgrade from the release v7.2.3 GA.
Additionally, before proceeding to the upgrade, it is recommended to follow all of the instructions listed here: Upgrade Best Practices.
