Description This article describes how to adjust the Captive Portal redirect timeout in FortiNAC.
Scope FortiNAC.
Solution

To adjust the Captive Portal redirect timeout in FortiNAC, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Portal Configuration: Log in to the FortiNAC management interface.
  2. Navigate to Registration Settings: Go to 'Portal Configuration' and select 'Registration'.
  3. Modify the Countdown Timer: In the 'Registration' section, locate the 'Success' script, which is typically implemented in the left column content. At the top of the script, a variable that defines the timeout duration for the countdown timer will be found. It is typically named 'detectionTimeoutSeconds' and is expressed in seconds. To increase the timeout duration, update the value assigned to 'detectionTimeoutSeconds'. For example, to extend the timeout to 60 seconds, it is possible to set it as follows:

             var detectionTimeoutSeconds = 60;

  1.  Save Changes: After making the necessary adjustments, save the changes to the script.

By increasing the value of 'detectionTimeoutSeconds', extend the duration for which the Captive Portal page will remain active before redirection. This allows devices more time to complete any necessary actions.

Adjusting the Captive Portal redirect timeout in FortiNAC can help ensure that devices have sufficient time to disconnect, reconnect, and complete registration before being redirected. By modifying the value of 'detectionTimeoutSeconds' in the script, it is possible to tailor this timeout to the specific requirements.
