Description

This article explains how to create a multicast policy in FortiManager with specific interfaces and address objects.

Solution

In FortiManager 5.2 and 5.4 the default interface available when creating a new policy is 'any'. Any interface or address object to be used in a multicast policy must be created first.

Use the following steps to configure a multicast policy in the FortiManager and push it to the FortiGate.

  • Go to Tools > Display options, and make sure that  the following settings are enabled: Multicast Interface, Dynamic Objects, Multicast Address, Multicast Policy.

  • Create the multicast interfaces  under policy & Objects > Objects > Dynamic Objects > Multicast Interface.  Per device mapping can be done to map  the multicast interface   to a specific interface on the FortiGate.

  • To create multicast addresses, go to Policy & Objects > Objects > Firewall Objects > Multicast Address.

  • To create Multicast policy go to Policy & Objects > Multicast Policy > Right click on the on the " local Domain policies" and select "create New".
