Description

This article describes how to enable the 'reply-to' field. This is only valid for FortiOS 7.0.8 until FortiOS 7.4.4.

Scope

FortiOS 7.0.8 to 7.4.4.

Solution

The command 'set reply-to' used to be visible by default in previous FortiOS versions:

Since FortiOS 6.4.10 and 7.0.8, when the default 'notification.fortinet.net' server is set, it is not possible to set an email address in the option 'reply-to' due to security issues:

In order to enable this option, it is needed the customers to set up a private SMTP server.

After setting any other server than the default, the 'reply-to' option becomes visible:

Further changes have been introduced in FortiOS 7.4.4 to enhance the security.

Following these changes, using certain custom servers, like Gmail, has become impossible due to extra checks on the reply-to-address value.

Updated default email notification server 7.4.4

The FortiOS default email server has been changed from notification.fortinet.net to fortinet-notifications.com.

The reply-to value for the source email is automatically updated to DoNotReply@fortinet-notifications.com for all servers, including custom servers. Therefore, it is not possible to customize the reply-to value when configuring a custom email server in the CLI.
