Description

This article describes an issue where the Interface Bandwidth widget for SD-WAN Member Interfaces on FortiGate G series devices shows incorrect incoming and outgoing bandwidth counts. The actual traffic does not match the numbers displayed in the widget, leading to discrepancies in bandwidth monitoring.

Scope

FortiGate v7.0.15, v7.2.9, v7.4.5.

Solution

On FortiGate G series devices with multiple WAN interfaces in SD-WAN, the Interface Bandwidth widget fails to display accurate bandwidth usage information.

While the traffic flowing through the interfaces appears normal and the network is functioning properly, the incoming and outgoing bandwidth values in the widget do not reflect the actual usage.

This can lead to confusion, as the displayed numbers may be higher or lower or sometimes 0 kbps.

This issue is currently under investigation by the development team. The article will be updated with the latest information once a fix is available.

Logs required by FortiGate TAC for investigation.

  1. TAC Report:

    execute tac report

Run the below debug command in CLI and open the interface bandwidth widget:

   diagnose debug disable
   diagnose debug reset
   diagnose debug console timestamp enable
   diagnose debug app httpsd -1
   diagnose debug app http -1
   di de application nodejs -1
   diagnose debug cli 8
   diagnose debug enable

Once debug logs capture is finished on the Putty, run the below commands to disable debug.

   diagnose debug reset
   diagnose debug disable

  1. Configuration file of the FortiGate.
  2. FortiGate Support Tool data: Also, take a support tool capture. Navigate that page for a few seconds. httpsd logs would be there so it should give us the info: Troubleshooting Tip: Collect GUI slowness and errors debugs via FortiGate Support Tool
