Description

This article describes how to access the FortiGate console when using a MacOS machine.

Scope

FortiGate, all firmware.

Solution

Pre-requisite: Terminal App.

Open the 'Terminal' App.
Run the command ls /dev/*usb*.
From the output, choose the one that has 'tty.usbserial' to execute the following command:

screen [serial port] [baud rate]
screen /dev/tty.usbserial-A9XBSOU6 9600.

If the commands above are run and it shows as a blank page on the terminal, press the Enter key. It will provide a login prompt. If it is still not loading, power cycle the FortiGate to show the firewall's boot-up process.
