Description

This article describes a known issue that users might encounter with missing speed options on FortiGate 80F/81F and FortiWiFi 80F/81F.

Scope

FortiGate 8xF, FortiWiFi 8xF, FortiOS 7.4.4 and earlier.

Solution

FortiGate 8xF has SFP1 and WAN1, and SFP2 and WAN2, these are shared SFP and ethernet interfaces. See FortiGate 80F, 81F, and 80F Bypass fast path architecture.

In FortiOS v7.4.4 or earlier, the 100full speed option is missing on the shared interfaces if an SFP fiber connection is used.

As shown below, the following speed options are available for WAN2 when using a RJ45 Ethernet connection and SFP fiber connection:

RJ45 Ethernet connection:

FortiGate-81F # config system interface

FortiGate-81F (interface) # edit wan2

FortiGate-81F (wan2) # set speed

auto Automatically adjust speed.

10full 10M full-duplex.

10half 10M half-duplex.

100full 100M full-duplex.

100half 100M half-duplex.

1000full 1000M full-duplex.

SFP Fiber connection:

FortiGate-81F # config system interface

FortiGate-81F (interface) # edit wan2

FortiGate-81F (wan2) # set speed

auto Automatically adjust speed.

1000full 1000M full-duplex.

In FortiOS v7.4.5 or later, 100full speed option has been added for SFP fiber connection as shown below:

FortiGate-81F (wan2) # set speed

auto        Automatically adjust speed.

100full     100M full-duplex.

1000full    1000M full-duplex.

This is a known issue #972170 which affects FortiOS 7.4.4 or earlier. This has been resolved on FortiOS v7.4.5 and v7.6.0.
