Description This article describes the steps that need to be taken to uninstall a managed FortiClient from an endpoint through the EMS central dashboard.
Scope EMS, FortiClient 7.0+, 7.2+.
Solution

1) Access the EMS as a user with admin privileges:

2) Go to Deployment & Installers -> Manage Deployment, and then select 'Add':

3) On Deployment, choose a name, select 'Edit' in the 'Endpoint Groups' section, and then select the groups in which the endpoints are situated:

Note: All the FortiClients installed on the chosen Group will be removed when the deployment is enabled.

4) Mark the option 'Uninstall', select the option 'Start at a Scheduled Time', then choose the time that the FortiClient will be uninstalled:

Note: When choosing a domain group, the 'Username' and 'Password' fields will appear.
Use a domain admin account or a user that has permission to uninstall software on the endpoints.

 

5) The uninstall package deployment will be created as below:

In this example, the following options were left enabled:

 

 - 'Reboot when needed'.

 - 'Reboot when no users are logged in'.

 - 'Notify users and let them decide when to reboot when users are logged in'.

 

This means that each endpoint will be rebooted if necessary, that the endpoints will reboot anyway if no user is logged in on the machine, and that users will be notified prior to reboot and prompted to postpone the reboot if necessary.

 

6) With the above options enabled, the following screen will appear at the user's endpoint:

7) When the user selects 'Uninstall Now', the following windows will appear. Select 'OK' to proceed:

8) Select 'Reboot' or 'Reboot later' to proceed with the uninstallation:

9) The endpoint will reboot and the FortiClient will be uninstalled:

After the process completes, the FortiClient on the endpoint will be uninstalled.
