Description | This article describes that the SMTP Account Username and Password do not accept more than 64 characters. |
Scope | FortiAuthenticator. |
Solution |
Scenario: Some SMTP Servers for example SENGRID create passwords with more than 64 characters.
Behavior Present: Go to System -> Messaging -> SMTP Servers and Enable Authentication.
Once you type User & Password, if selecting Test Connection it will show an Invalid Credentials Message otherwise select SAVE and the FortiAuthenticator does not show any error message, but if selecting EDIT again the user and password have a blank space.
Solution. This is an expected behavior already reported by the Developer Team so it explains that FortiAuthenticator stores an encrypted form of the password in the database. FortiAuthenticator utilizes AES256 encryption for password encryption so it only supports a maximum of 64 characters. |
