Segmentation help

Hi Guys,

 

I needed some help with segmentation and WAN access.

The way our current policy is setup is,

Internal Users(VLAN) --> DMZ (VLAN) open for port 80 and 443.

What i am trying to achieve is restrict these internal users from using the internal IP for these web servers we host.

I want them to hit the external IP of the web servers we hit and get rid of this internal policy.

Any advice on what would be the best way to do that?

    Use u turn nat How it works its in video library in tekguru4u.com for palo alto, You can replicate the same for fortigate

    You can only achieve this if the servers cross an interface boundary of the firewall. Same subnet won't work.

    The servers are in a DMZ VLAN, they are not in the same subnet.

    How will I be able to achieve this?

    Depends on how your DNS is currently setup, to get them to hit the external IP you will need to have their DNS resolve the external IP address. Before changing DNS check if the webpage will work using the external IP addresses. Use the hosts file at /etc/hosts or c:\windows\drivers\etc\hosts to test on one of the affected workstations.
