You might need to have a router that can support pppoe connectivity which in turn connects to AP & also runs DHCP server on Router to support IP address for AP connectivity/client connectivity.

During bootup/startup its not random but we do support DFS ( Dynamic Frequency Selection) based on background algorithm where we passively scan for and select the least congested channel.
