This article describes the default number of 10x VDOM is stackable with the VDOM upgrade license (SKU: FG-VDOM-XX-UG) and how to verify before and after applying the license key in the FortiGate.
FortiOS.
This example describes a scenario where there are two SKUs of FG-VDOM-5-UG and FG-VDOM-15-UG are being added to the existing registered hardware FortiGate 3501F. By default, the FortiGate comes with 10x VDOMs.
Steps:
Run the CLI access to FortiGate, default is 10x VDOMs.
FortiGate-3501F (global) # get sys status
Version: FortiGate-3501F v7.2.5,build1517,230606 (GA.F)

Firmware Signature: certified
...
Serial-Number: FG35F1TB00900999
Hostname: FortiGate-3501F
Max number of virtual domains: 10

Run the CLI command execute upd-vd-license to apply the license.
Syntax: execute upd-vd-license <license key>
FortiGate-3501F (global) # execute upd-vd-license 4AAAA-8BBBB-WCCCC-N
update vdom license succeeded
Verify again the total VDOM number to make sure the desired count is shown which is 30x VDOMs. This action concluded that the VDOM upgrade license is stackable and will not supersede the default 10x VDOMs.
