Technical Tip: SSL-VPN Package Version Unreachable after upgrade

Description

This article describes when SSL-VPN package version unreachable after upgrade. When a FortiGate is upgraded from FortiOS 5.0.X  to any version until 5.2.12, the SSL-VPN Package Version is seen as Unreachable in System > Config > FortiGuard.

This behavior is because from FortiOS 5.0.X to later versions until FortiOS 5.2.12, the SSL VPN plug-ins are not built-in in FortiOS images.

Solution
In order to resolve this issue, download the SSL VPN package from Fortinet Support Portal here.

1) Once logged in, download the SSL VPN Package according with the current FortiOS version that are running. The following is an example from firmware 5.2.3:

Download > Firmware Images > FortiGate > v5.00 > 5.2 > 5.2.3 > VPN > SSLVPNTools > sslvpnclient32pkg_4.4.2312.tar.gz

2) Once the package is downloaded, upload it to the FortiGate using the graphical interface as follows:

System > Config > FortiGuard > SSL-VPN Package Information
