Description | This article describes how to guarantee FPM power delivery after an electrical cut. |
Scope | FortiGate Chassis 7000. |
Solution |
After an electrical, FPM inside a Chassis FortiGate 7000 should restart automatically when the power is restored. If this is not the case, the following elements need to be checked: connect to SMM to verify the status of the FPM.
To access the SMM module:
admin@SMM # status
If one of the FPMs is not active, use this command to activate it:
admin@SMM # fru activate 3
Since the FPM is designed for warm swappable, there are power switches on both of the module sides, once the blade is plugged in and the lever is locked and the power switches are on, the blade will be powered on automatically. From SMM, it can detect the blade via GPIO even if the power switches are not on, so it can power on/off the blade via CLI (but the blade cannot be automatically powered on by itself).
When the user first installs the blades, it is necessary to lock the lever and ensure the power switches are on, then use the secure screws to tighten the blade to the chassis.
