Description

This article describes how to block a particular application on a particular Firewall Policy using an Application Control security profile.

Scope

FortiOS all version.

Solution

Go to the Security Profile section -> Application Control which has to apply the application filter.

For example, blocking YouTube using the override option as below:

In Application and Filter overrides -> Create a new.

Select Application.
Action: Block.
Application: YouTube.

Go to Policy & Objects -> Firewall Policy section, select the relevant firewall policy where the application needs to block, and make sure that the correct Application Control Profile has been applied:

Now open the browser and go to YouTube.com and try to search for a video and it should receive an application block page.

Go to Log & Report -> Application Control, it will give detailed logs for the same blocked traffic:
