Description This article describes steps possible to take to connect to an SMB shared drive from a Mac using ZTNA.
Scope FortiGate, FortiClient.
Solution

To connect to an SMB shared drive from a Mac using ZTNA, follow these steps:

 

  1. Ensure having the FortiClient 7.0.3 or later installed on the Mac.
  2. Configure a ZTNA TCP Forwarding Access Proxy rule on the FortiGate (version 7.0.4 or later) for the SMB service on port 445.
  3. Map the network drive on the Mac by using the server's FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) for Kerberos authentication.
  4. Access the SMB shared drive by browsing the file server tree or using the full path to the file share.
  5. There will be a prompt to put in a username and password before accessing to the SMB shared drive.
