Technical Note: FortiGate power LED is red and blinking

Description

There are some rare cases where the power LED is seen to be blinking red.  This is not documented in the hardware manuals.

This may mean that the device is having a hardware failure.  Shown symptoms may include the device hanging but that it functions normally again after a reboot.

Solution

If the symptoms are seen multiple times it is recommended to open a support ticket to request troubleshooting and potentially a RMA exchange.

Note:

For the model having two power supplies, connect either power supply and the power LED will be green. The 200F is exception. The 200F can work normally by one power supply, but the power LED is red.  If both power supplies are connected, it turns green.
