For simpler networks, FortiGate CNF supports the deployment of cost optimized CNF instances in AWS, offering a savings of up to 66%.

As of July 2024, FortiGate CNF cost optimized instances offer the following savings:

A cost optimized instance has the following limitations:

Does not support external logging.
-
Limited to four protected networks (endpoints).
-
The instance is deployed by default in a single AZ in a Region.
-
Availability target is lower than the regular instance type.
In the CNF Instances table, the Instance Type column indicates whether this is a price-optimized or standard instance.
To create a cost optimized instance:

In CNF Instances, click New > AWS.

Set Instance Type to Cost Optimized.

Configure the other fields as needed and click OK.
Instance Type cannot be changed after the instance is created.
Note:
Due to AWS Marketplace restrictions, if you subscribed to the consumption (PAYG) subscription of FortiGate CNF prior to this, the cost optimized instance type will become available for your account after September 1, 2024.
