FML mailbox backup format

Hi everyone,

Does anyone knows if it is possible to read the mailbox backup file storaged on a Windows Server with any other than uploading it to FortiMail?

Our customer wants to make sure that, if FML crashes or something goes wrong, they can read important e-mails that cannot wait for a RMA process. The backup format saved via SMB is only storaged in an unreadable format.

Regards.

Hello Luis,

A mail data backup performed under System > Maintenance would not be readable as you state.

The solution would to configure remote NFS storage, System > Mail Setting > Storage:
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortimail/7.0.2/administration-guide/864901/configuring-mail-settings#system_1547103484_3233025

All data would be stored on the NAS vs the FortiMail local disk and accessible in the event that the FortiMail is not.

The emails would be stored in .eml format which can be opened in an email client.
