What websites are blocked By Fortigate Web or AV Filter

How to check if a particular website is blocked by fortigate AV or web filter?

Perhaps I can enter the url into the firewall and check?

Or is there an external website where i can check?

Or do I have to do it from the local network?

Assume that default settings of av and web filter are applied.

You may check the website category from Fortiguard page - https://www.fortiguard.com/webfilter
And then compare the category action you have configured on your profiles.

If uncategorized, what will the default policy do?

srajeswaran

It will be blocked.

Default action is 'block' for the unrated url however you can use the static URL filter to override the fortiguard categorization.

Hi @BusinessUser,

In addition to the previous comment, you can also using URL filter to exempt or allow specific URL from the block category. Please refer to this document for more information

Hi,

-You can first check the category of the website from the web filter lookup
https://www.fortiguard.com/webfilter

- Under the firewall policy, check which web filter profile is being used

-  Under Security Profiles -> web Filter ; check if the action for the website category is Block or Allow

- To create an exception for a particular website from the category, you can create a static url
