Hello
FortiAuthenticator 6.4.7.
How to configure auto-redirection of HTTP to HTTPS for WebUI access?
Hello @AEK
Is there any reason why you want to redirect the users ?
Why less secure protocol when you can force them use directly HTTPS to access the GUI.
I am not aware of any option like this in FortiAuthenticator.
Hi DBU
Thanks for the information.
My concern us that some browsers default to http, and some of our admins don't specify https:// when they access FSM WebUI.
So the idea is to redirect http to https automatically from FSM.
Thank you for clarifying.
I understand your concern and i am afraid you need to educate the users :)
The browsers should always try HTTPS and prefer it. I would actually disable HTTP and leave only HTTPS enabled. The users will be annoyed, but they will learn. So will their browser history and finally the bookmarks.
One question is - WHY do these users need to access the webUI of FAC?
Usually these are only admins and these are easy to educate. If these are end users, and they use the FortiAuthenticator as captive portal, HTTPS is basically required to encrypt (end users <> FAC) traffic.
Best regards,
Markus
Hello Markus
Yes it is about admins, not users.
