EXT2-fs error fortigate booting

Hi all,

I am using Fortigate 310B and it cannot boot now, when I connect it via console, the error displays as below. I did search about EXT2-FS ERROR of FG310B but no resource. I cannot access it to do "execute factory reset" command and also don't know it's firmware version to upgrade. Anyone can tell me what is this error and how to resolve it?

Press a key to bring up the boot menu. 

Subsequently format the boot partition

and reload the firmware via tftp and restore config. 

You may want to do a HQIP test to test boot device.

 

Given the fact that a FG310B is already an older model, chances are that you may want to RMA the unit, provided you have a valid FortiCare contract.

Thank Eric! I will try, but how to know which firmware suitable to reload? Can I reload it with lasted firmware ? or follow steps which is recommend by Fortinet vendor?

I would recommend the same version as your backup will match that. 

 

Fastest way to recovery, new firmware will possibly need a different config

Sounds like your drive is hosed. You almost certainly need to reinstall the OS.

 

As it is booting, when it says "Press any key to display configuration menu", hit a key. That menu should let you reimage the box over TFTP. Unfortunately, this will definitely wipe your config, so I hope you have it backed up somewhere.

 

Edited to add: I was apparently viewing in threaded mode and didn't see the reply before mine saying the same thing. Never mind.
