Scope FortiSwitch v6.4.x and above.
Solution

Upgrade the FortiSwitch from the GUI.

Depending on the FortiSwitch, there may be a dedicated management port with an IP address of 192.168.1.99/255.255.255.0, or an in-band internal interface with the same IP address 192.168.1.99/255.255.255.0.
It is possible to connect the laptop to the dedicated management port of FortiSwitches or access the FortiSwitch by connecting on any port for eg port1 via HTTPS on IP https://192.169.1.99.
