Technical Tip: FortiGate Address Group Invalid Character error

Description	This article describes the error that was caused by a special character in the comment section of the address group object in FortiOS since firmware 7.4.2 and 7.4.3.
Scope	FortiOS 7.4.2 and 7.4.3.
Solution	When creating an address group in FortiOS using GUI, it will not be allowed to use a special character in the comment section. For example, in GUI, when using a special character, it will show the below error: This error does not affect firmware below 7.4.2. When using the VPN wizard, the address group created by the VPN wizard will have the comment '(Created by VPN wizard)' by default. Hence, when trying to edit the address group, the same error will show. There will be no issue using CLI to edit the object even with a special character in the comment section. It is possible to use CLI as a workaround to edit the address group object if needed, or by removing the special character in the comment section. This error is a known issue for FortiOS 7.4.2 and 7.4.3, it will be fixed in the future release 7.4.4.
