Firmware upgrades without any license service

Hi Team,

I wanted to ask that if any Customer buys only FortiGate HW without any license or support subscription, will he get regular HW Firmware updates?
Like how general updates are available even for the printers we buy.

I got mixed ans. for this query hence, I am asking in this forum.

Hi,

Yes, you can still upgrade the firmware manually. But it will be in limited functionality such as not able to use WebFilter, not receiving any FortiGuard update etc.

It seems that it is no longer possible, when I tried, I got a message:

This is a FortiOS v7.4.6-build2726 firmware image that cannot be installed because the device's FortiGuard license for firmware upgrades expired on 20xx/xx/xx. Renew the license to install upgrades.
