This article discussed various questions regarding the nplus license,
1. How to install the Nplus1 license on the controller ?
When installing the nplus1 license on the controller, make sure that the controller does not have nplus1 enabled. To stop the nplus1 use the following command:
controller#config terminal
controller(config)#nplus1 stop
Once the controller is changed to a normal controller, go to
Maintenance ---> Licenses ---> Import License. Make sure the active mode is selected when importing the certificate. Once the license is uploaded, verify it by going to license option.
2. Where license needs to be installed ?
Nplus1 license is installed on the slave controller always. DO NOT INSTALL THE NPLUS1 LICENSE ON MASTER.
3. What license needs to be installed on the slave controller ?
Nplus1 license is required to be installed on the slave controller.
4. Why nplus1 is required to be installed ?
Nplus1 license is installed since it is required if more than one master is mapped to a slave controller.
