Description

Are there any specific ports required to be forwarded/open on controller if one needs MS file & printer sharing on wireless clients?

Scope

KB ARTICLE TYPE: Troubleshooting

RELATED PRODUCTS: Controller

RELATED SOFTWARE VERSIONS: N/A

KEYWORDS: controller, printer, Netbios

Solution
Yes. If the client uses NetBeui/Netbios protocol the following ports will need to be opened:

MS File and printer sharing responds to the queries on TCP ports 139 and 445, and UDP ports 137 and 138. As the controller does not allow udp broadcasts, we need to add the ports 137 & 138 in udp upstream & downstream on the controller.

UDP ports 137 and 138 need to be opened for boht upstream and downstream.

GUI: Configure>Devices>System Settings>UDP Broadcast Up/UDP Broadcast Down
