got it working eventually !, loaded tftpd on linux machine, changed
directory of tftp from /tftpboot to /var/lib/tftpboot and presto !!!!

yip ! i' ve done that ! now trying to get new or older image on to the
unit, no luck at all. keeps giving this error: invalid compressed format
(err=1) all fortinet image file are *.out ! should it be something
different ?
