Description | This article describes how to configure the FAPU321 & AP822 with the same BSSID for the SSID mapped to it. |
Scope | FortiWLC, Forti AP (AP8xx , FAPU), All firmware |
Solution |
In some cases, multiple AP models in the environment can be seen, and it is required to map different AP models to same ESSID profile, and also both AP models broadcast the SSID with same BSSID for seamless roaming in virtual cell environment may be required.
In order to achieve that, make sure that both AP models have same config for below mentioned parameters.
-- Radio band -- Primary Channel -- Channel Width -- MIMO mode
Example screenshot from FortiWLC GUI for the AP wireless interface: ===================================================
Above highlighted configuration should be same for the both of the AP models. Even a single configuration difference in the details mentioned above can change the BSSID for the SSID mapped to the AP.
Note: ==== It is always better to perform the changes on the AP wireless interface side config after scheduling for a maintenance window or after work hours.
In this case, the SSID named 'parpbridged' & 'parptunneled' and AP ID 291 (FAPU321) , AP ID 292 (AP822) are taken for testing.
'vap display' output on both of the APs showed the BSSID values as same.
FAPU321EV CLI output ap 291> vap display
ap 292> vap display
