hi, is it possible to configure vdoms on an existing firewall - will enabling the feature overright the current configuration?

Yes and no. Yes, most FGT models support 10 vdoms by default. And no, the most of config you have would show up under "root" vdom except the common config among vdoms would be under "global" after you enabled vdom-admin.
