Fortimail are IMAP compliance. So, you need a tool that connect oin Fortimail mailbox's using IMAP and move the emails to the Exchange.

Don't forget you can use the FortiMail in a gateway or transparent mode and have it pass judgement on the email messages without using it as an endpoint mail server.

You can take about 5 old workstations on the Exchange server network and install Outlook on them.

Install Remote access software on them.

Remote to the 5 machines and perform this procedure:

- connect Outlook to the old mail server and export to PST using file -> export

- close Outlook and make a new Outlook profile (go to control panel -> mail 32bit)

- new profile connects to the Exchange server

- start Outlook and import the PST file into the user's mailbox

optionally, for the import you can name the PST files with the username and use Exchange to import them

this is much quicker because you're using the workstations JUST for exporting

this is also a VERY good procedure to know.  Exporting / Importing to PST file is a useful thing for admins to know.

On the Exchange server open a new power shell window

run this command:

New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Role “Mailbox Import Export” –User Administrator close and re-open the management console

I usually end up copying the file to the Exchange server and pull it in from there:

   New-MailboxImportRequest -Mailbox Ayla -FilePath \\SERVER01\e$\PSTFiles\Ayla.pst

pulling the file from the local drive bypasses a bunch of permission issues
