friends, could the traffic shaping configuration be considered a good practice?
I've been reviewing a FG but I don't see traffic shaping policies so I plan to create a few.

Purpose of traffic shaping to give priority to critical services, which means if we don't apply the configuration correctly to classify the critical/non critical services it may create issue. If we apply the classifier and shaping configuration correctly the feature will be really beneficial in bandwidth management and overall service quality improvement.
A FortiGate provides quality of service (QoS) by applying bandwidth limits and prioritization to network traffic. Traffic shaping is one technique used by the FortiGate to provide QoS. A basic approach to traffic shaping is to prioritize higher priority traffic over lower priority traffic during periods of traffic congestion. This provides a stabilizing effect for important traffic while throttling less important traffic.

It would be more reactive measures to me depending on site specific traffic characteristics and patterns, and the problems arose because of those specifics. Like video conference starts showing problems at a certain time of a day, or voice over network is often choppy in the mornings, or whatever.
Then you need to analyze why&how that happens and place QoS measures and observe if the measures have mitigated or not. Then adjust them if they don't as expected. Also the traffic environment would change when network needs and usage change.
In other words, you wouldn't know what you need until the symptoms happen then keep adjusting them as the situation changes.
