system integrity check failed

I have implemented fortigate 100F. I was trying to upgrade firmware version 6.4.6 to version 7.2. Currently, the firewall does not boot, neither does it provide any menu to select. Below is the message it shows when I restart it:

failed verification on /data/datafs.tar.gz
fos_ima: System Integrity check failed...
CPU1: stopping
CPU2: stopping
CPU0: stopping
CPU7: stopping
CPU6: stopping
CPU3: stopping
CPU4: stopping

Kindly help.

Hey bobwaithaka,

that doesn't look very healthy - if you get this repeatedly when power-cycling the unit, and you don't even get the prompt 'press any key to interrupt boot', then there's very little we can do.

I would suggest you open a ticket with Fortinet support; they may be able to suggest additional steps to see if the unit is recoverable, and if not, depending on your service contract, may be able to help you get a replacement unit.

Cheers,

Debbie

Hi @bobwaithaka

Did you upgrade the firmware directly to 7.2 or follow the upgrade path? Seems like you are facing this: https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Boot-failure-after-upgrading-to-v7-0-15/ta...

You may follow the steps here to restore access: https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Boot-the-backup-firmware-and-config-via-co...
