"No entry for terminal type "vt220"; using dumb terminal settings."

Does anyone know what this message means? It seems like I see this when I connect to some devices via the CLI and other times I don't so just wanted to make sure it wasn't a sign of a possible corruption.

Thank you,

Hi,

your terminal client (like Putty or TeraTerm) sends as terminal type VT220. The Fortigate doesn't know that and falls back to dumb terminal settings. the same story you will have with any Linux/Unix based system if it doesn't know the terminal type your are sending. For Fortigate CLI that is usually not an issue.

I have that msg when I'm using forti explorer and from there the CLI.

You can ignore that in my opinion.

Cheers, Patrick
