https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Create-new-npu-vlink-for-NP7-model/ta-p/30...

is there any limitation or things to note when creating new vlink with this method ?

Hi Charizad

Did you check this tech tip?

https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Difference-and-understanding-between-NPU-V...

The difference between npu-vlink and vdom-link:

  1. Essentially a matter of NPU offloading
  2. Can create VLAN interfaces on nbu-vlink, while we can't on vdom-link

I have the same(?) question @charizard has since there is no good documentation about the new feature of NP7 about how it's designed and how it would work.
The 7.6.4 hardware acceleration doc below says just conventional npu0-vlink0/1 for NP7, and no mentioning about like npu0-vlnk2 and subsequent npu0-vlink20/21 described in the KB.
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.6.4/hardware-acceleration/251402/configuring-inter-vd...

When it comes to a new feature of a new NPU like this NP7, FTNT doesn't have a proper documentation and let everyone puzzling, just like when VLAN switch was introduced with NP6Xlite.

Does anyone have some internal info/documentation?

Toshi

Hi @Toshi_Esumi and All

Thank you for your feedback. I will work with the documentation team to cross-check and update the document for these features if needed. Thanks

Regards

Bill
