new switch license

I bought a new fortiswitch 124E and now want to upgrade to the latest firmware. Seems that I don't have a license to do this. do I actually need to buy a license even to get the very first upgrade. AND does not seem to have a button to register the switch to my fortigate account. 

Please advise

Check if you can manually download FortiSwitch upgrade package from support.fortinet.com where you can login with your account.

I can not , it says "you do not have a support contract for a switch"

Did you purchase a support agreement for the FortiSwitch?

No I did not, I thought it would be the same as a Fortigate. You get downloads and tech support for a short period.

No, you need to buy support on the switch to be entitled to firmware updates.
