limit downloads

G' day! 310B unit running MR3. How do I limit the downloads of users? Not the bandwidth but the total in bytes? Many thanks, Matt.

Maybe....You can use DLP, set to http-GET and set the file size to the limit you want. Set it to block.

Welcome to the forums. As far as I can tell, you can only set quotas for time spent on a certain category of site. You can' t specify a download quota of, say, 10GB/day for a user. I' m not sure why this is excluded -- seems like it would have been an easy one. If you want to do traffic shaping to limit bandwidth consumption, that is an option available from the menus. Not sure that' s what you wanted.

I understood it has he would like to allow users to access the internet but does not want a user to download a file larger than x.

Many thanks for the quick replies fellas, much appreciated... What I want to do is limit a user' s total downloads over a period of time (eg: User A can surf a max of 2GB a day). Ideally I would like the following: 1) User surfs (http/https) at traffic shaped 1mb/s. 2) User triggers max d/l of 2GB within an 8 hr window. 3) User is then shaped to 100kb/s. I' m getting a 60C to play with soon, may try out the DLP on that. Interesting suggestion. thanks, Matt.

That would be a great feature set. I could definitely use something like that. Traffic shaping is not enough for some users -- a hard download limit is needed.
