forticlient vpn

My company uses forticlient vpn (usually for windows). I use Ubuntu and have installed version 7.4.0.1636. When creating the ipsec connection I can't find the advanced options that are in the windows client (I have to add localid to phase1). So the Linux version is limited? I also tried with network manager, but I have the same problems here too :) Has anyone had something similar happen? Thank you.

There is no IPsec in Linux version of FCT VPN.

the client seemed very similar to the windows one, but without advanced options. yes, I've seen the strongSwan solution, I'll try it but I'm not confident (in my skills, mostly) :) tnx

I just released that FCT VPN 7.4.0 on Linux supports IPsec VPN, while 7.2.2 and lower doesn't.

If there is no advanced options to add your client id that probably means that FCT VPN 7.4.0 supports only IKEv2.

For IPsec VPN, FortiClient (Linux) only supports IKEv2.

The Linux version of FortiClient may have fewer features compared to the Windows version, including limited advanced options for IPsec connections. For adding localid to Phase 1, you might need to use command-line tools like strongSwan or Libreswan for more advanced configuration on Ubuntu.
