forticlient deleting network shortcuts on all machins
hi
since yesterday, users with network shortcuts on their desktop, have been having them deleted from their desktop.
a common factor on all these machines, not just in our company, is forticlient.
can you advise if you are aware of this issue?

Same problem here on windows 10. 50 endpoints, all with forticlient 5.2.4. It seems to delete only network related shortcuts.
I need a solution ASAP.

Same here
It seems that whenever whatever is happening happens, it only deletes shortcuts directly on the user's desktop.
Windows 7 home and win8 all had problems until we remove the shortcut and did what was mention above. This is very sad FTNT. I hope your listening. I wasted over 5 hours today looking at this one problem and wish I had visit this thread earlier.
I'm so pissed right now it's not even funny ;(

Export your config on one of your FortiClients. There is an example in the 5.2.3 of running Windows scripts.
http://docs.fortinet.com/uploaded/files/2076/forticlient-xml-52.pdf
This is a shot in the dark, but in the On_connect/On_disconnect schema sections of the config, they show how you can use "net use" commands to add and remove shares. Maybe someone tried to set them up or they got in your configs somehow? Just a guess. I'm having a hell of a time trying to get consistent operation between Windows and Mac using 5.4. There are no advanced option in the MacOS version, so if you are using any non-standard options, you have to waste time in the XML schema on the Mac side. SO ANNOYING FORTINET!!!

borderland wrote:This was resolved for us with an antivirus engine update that was released a day or two after we opened our ticket with FortiNet support. If your Antivirus definitions for FortiClient are up-to-date, this shouldn't be an issue.Has anybody found a resolution to this yet, I have had some issues experiencing missing desktop shortcuts as well.
