forticlient blocks Internet Explorer

Hello, I have a win 7 pro machine. After installing forticlient 4.2 the Internet explorer stopped working. Shutting down the forticlient enables the Explorer to function. I tried ver 4.2 and 4.1 - the same thing. Please advice, Avi

this may caused by proxy conflict. open the task manager to see if there is another proxy process running other than fortiproxy.exe (normally if you have installed anti-virus software, there is a proxy process running.) solution: you can disable the fortiProxy. 0 Shutdown FC 1 start run cmd in administrator mode 2 ' net stop fortishield' 3 regedit ... find FA_Fortiproxy.. change ‘enabled’ value to 0 instead of 1 4 ' net start fortishield.' 5 restart forticlient 6 test connections

hi MasterBratac , l.carlone did your problem solve? if Internet doesn' t work after FCT installed, you can try to disable proxy. in the latest version 4.2.2.267, forticlient provides that function from GUI General->Help&Support click Diagnostics check off the Enable FortiProxy. if Internet doesn' t work only after vpn connected, you may need to look at ede_pfau' s post RE: unable to browse web pages after... (in reply to jacekr) ...or, as an alternative, use your local connection for internet access and the tunnel for company access. In this case, the only change you have to make is to change the destination subnet address in your Forticlient: - if you specify e.g. ' 192.168.34.0 255.255.255.0' (assuming this is your company' s internal network) then only traffic destined to a host on this subnet will go through the tunnel. All other traffic will bypass the tunnel. - if you' ve specified ' 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0' you send each and every packet to your company' s LAN. If there is no configuration set up for VPN client internet browsing you' ll never get return traffic. good luck
