default spanning tree mode on fortiswitch

what is the default spanning tree mode on fortiswitch out of the box. can someone please confirm?

Hello @nflnetwork29 ,

 

To confirm the default setting, you can access the FortiSwitch CLI and use the following command to display the current Spanning Tree configuration:  #show switch-controller stp-settings

 

If you are directly connected to the FortiSwitch: #show spanning-tree

The default spanning tree is MSTP which is backward-compatible with STP and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). You can read more in the admin guide

In later version is also added support for per-VLAN STP.

The command to check the config and the ports in the switch: # diagnose stp instance list

What is CST that i see when I run show spanning tree?

Hi @nflnetwork29 

 

CST stand for Common Spanning Tree and is used when you have different MSTP region or different protocol..
