config log syslogd setting, cannot set server?

FortiOS 5.0.4 on a new FortiGate 100D. In CLI, " config log syslogd setting" there is no " set server" option. FG100D3G13807731 # config log syslogd setting FG100D3G13807731 (setting) # show full-configuration config log syslogd setting set status disable end FG100D3G13807731 (setting) # set status enable FG100D3G13807731 (setting) # end node_check_object fail! for server Attribute ' server' MUST be set. Command fail. Return code -1 FG100D3G13807731 # config log syslogd setting FG100D3G13807731 (setting) # set server 192.168.1.200 command parse error before ' server' Command fail. Return code -61 What am I doing wrong that the " set server" (indeed, ALL of the set settings, except for enable) is not present? thank you, -Jay

Is there some other setting on which the availability of syslogd logging depends? The v5.0 Handbook doesn' t seem to suggest so. Yet there' s no doubt that the syslogd settings aren' t available on my FG100D with FortiOS 5.0.4 :(

I read the first 2 posts and thought it would work now. The sequence of the commands is important: only after ' set status ena' you get the other options, but you have to set at least some of them before leaving with ' end' . That' s clearly seen in the error messages you posted. So, after
conf log syslog set
 set stat ena
 show full
what do you see? And if you have the ' set server' option, can you successfully ' end' the dialogue?

Hi ede_pfau, Thank you so much. Wow, that' s so incredibly non-obvious and stupid. The other people who have commented that FortiOS v5 is an exercise in buggy frustration are quite right. :-(
conf log syslog set set stat ena show full
Works perfectly; now I can configure the other syslogd settings. (No idea whether syslogd will work, but at least now I can try!) Again, thank you. FortiNet, are you listening? This is just not a right customer experience!
conf log syslog set set stat ena show full

Dunno if it helps but this CLI behavior dates back to at least v4.0...

instead of typing " show full" you can just type " get" then it will print out all settings, regardless if they are " hidden"
