capacity problems on FG50E

Hi,

We have a FG50E with 6.2.15 and we have problems with the memory:

/dev/mtd6 18.0M 17.7M 284.0K 98% /data

We already deleted the  geo-ip database, but after the reboot and checking we see occupying a lot resources

Wed Jan 3 12:38:08 2024 2139234 geoip_db.gz

What else can we try?

Thanks!

Roland

Hello Roland

Does it impact the operation of your FortiGate?

If so, what is the impact?

If not, you can let FortiGate manage his storage.

Hi @RolandBaumgaertner72,

Have you tried the steps mentioned in the release notes? Please refer to https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/6.2.15/fortios-release-notes/413989/fortigate-30e-and-5...

If yes, did the storage decrease after that?

Hi @RolandBaumgaertner72,
Look like one of the issue with 30/50 model we are having. You can create a TAC ticket for a special build installation.

Hello,

the impact is really bad since the FG50 was restarted and didnt load all the configuartion. There were interfaces missing, no VIPs, no admin password.....right now I an concerned that a new restart (power interruption) would cause the same problem again.

I used again the command for the Geo but again we are at 99%

/dev/mtd6 18.0M 17.7M 256.0K 99% /data
/dev/mtd7 30.0M 22.9M 7.0M 77% /data2

Looks like it loads again the data

Wed Jan 3 14:58:07 2024 2139234 geoip_db.gz

I followed all the steps.

Something else I can do, right now restarting the FG would cause again the config issue I suppose.

Thanks,

Roland

Hi,

I opened a TAC ticket but sofar no feedback.

Also again I followed the steps from the URL and right after I have like 85%, but after 1 hour we are again at 99% (no updates).

Any other idea?

Thanks

Hi @RolandBaumgaertner72

Can you provide the ticket number? Can you confirm what is the build number you are using? You can check on the Dashboard or by running this commands "get system status"

@RolandBaumgaertner72,

There is a special build 5254 which should resolve the issue. You can request it from the ticket.
